So my university is off for spring break next week and the girlfriend and I have decided to go away. We're going to PA, near the Poconos. East Stroudsburg to be exact. So far our plan is to be on the road by 2PM on Monday, get to the Hotel by 330. We're doing dinner at the Blue Tequila. And Tuesday we'll be going to Callies Candy Kitchen and Pretzel Factory. Otherwise, that's it. Not much else planned. Anyone else familiar with the area know of any stuff we should do/see?

Also, anyone want roadtrip pics/story after we get back?

Have my Volvo on our last trip to the Poconos for your time -

Where are you coming from? Do you ski or snowboard?

Coming from NJ, not too far away. It's our usual vacation spot but we don't ever do much aside from what's list. No skiing or snowboarding here. Might go to Bushkill Falls if it isn't too cold.

Stroudsburg used to have a decent bar called "Floods".

Gotcha. Wasn't sure if you were coming from far away or not. Are you over 21? Weyerbacher is in Easton.

It's an hour+ from where you are at but heading to Shady Maple in the Amish country is cool. Down by Maple Grove Raceway.

Stroudsburg has some neat old antique stores that I browsed last time I was there. I spotted a few old diecasts and auto advertisements. Worth checking out, if you're out window-shopping.

My friend had his bachelor party around there a couple years ago. Here's the dorky invite his best man sent me. Perhaps it could be useful?

Hello fellow friends and family of (friend),

I would like to introduce myself for those of you who do not know me, my name is (best man) and I have known (friend) since freshman year of college. I also have the distinct honor of being (friend)'s best man for (wife) and his wedding. Alongside me are (groomsman #1), (groomsman #2), and (groomsman #3). Together we are (friend)'s groomsmen and your bachelor party planners.

We have decided to host (friend)'s bachelor weekend in the Pennsylvania Poconos (about an hour and a half northwest of Philadelphia) during Presidents Day weekend, 2012. That's Friday February 17th through Sunday February 19th. We are planning on renting a house somewhere around the Mt. Pocono area which will fit everyone who is attending. We are still in the process of finalizing all of the details, but the tentative itinerary is as follows:

Friday Evening - arrive the rental house after work, imbibe alcohol, eat junk food, perhaps sleep

Saturday Morning - wake up (optional), find a local diner or other breakfast joint, eat, make our way to the next stop

Saturday Afternoon - currently the plan is paintball (which we know will be painful but fun as hell in the cold). this is subject to change.

Saturday Evening - head back to the house, clean up, and go out for a great (but not too expensive) dinner somewhere

Saturday Night - let's just say take (friend) somewhere that both his eyes and ego will not soon forget. for those of you who need things spelled out a bit more, go here: http://www.grandviewclub.com/

Sunday Morning - wake up (optional), eat something (optional), drink coffee (hopefully not optional), go home (not optional)

Some additional things you will need to know:

1. From experience we believe that you will need somewhere between $200 and $250 to make sure that both you and (friend) thoroughly enjoy the weekend. Once we have more information I will send out a better estimate, but don't worry, it won't be more than that.

2. Feel free to bring snacks, cards, PS3's, beer, whiskey, or whatever else you believe will make the weekend more fun.

3. I would like tentative confirmation of your plans to attend sometime in the next week or two. I will need a more concrete commitment sometime in December. Don't worry, I will bug you if I don't hear from you before then.

4. If you do plan on attending (which we hope everyone does) please let me know if it will be for the whole weekend or only part of it.

Once we have more information I will send it out. It is our goal to make this an awesome time for (friend), so any suggestions are also welcome. I look forward to hearing from everyone soon and seeing everyone in February.

Regards,
(best man)

well if you go take pics so i can live vicariously through your adventure. I've been dreaming of going there but its a little bit (way) out of my way. I did manage to see one of his houses in New Hampshire and one in Albany on my way back from Niagara Falls.

Perhaps Saturday we can walk around the town proper and see what's up. Last time we went to the nearby mall and that was somewhat disappointing.

Being that we have to go home Tuesday night and have our dinner/bar plans set, we may have to pass this up. Granted we go here several times per year so next trip we'll check it out!

They are a microbrewery and are regarded as one of the best in the area.

Or see if anything's going on up at Split Rock, or the Sands Casino (in Bethlehem)

If it is warm go skydiving at sky's the limit. The people there are awesome. I may actually be out there this weekend if it does get to 50.
